Meet the Producer
Emily Lively grew up along the shores of Lake Michigan. Developing a passion for music early, she became heavily involved in the Michigan music community. Emily's love for song was nourished at Lambs Retreat for Songwriters in Harbor Springs, MI at the suggestion of her lifelong music teacher Patrick Neimisto. Not only did she fall in love with songwriting, but also convinced her parents to book a house concert. Well, actually, she booked the house concert and then convinced her parents it was a good idea.
Upon high school graduation in 2003, Emily began her college career at Columbia College Chicago studying music business. However, she didn't last long, her dreams of becoming a folk legend, and desire to live the music business outweighed her interest in the Windy City. The summer of her freshmen year at Columbia, she followed her dreams to attend the internationally renowned Kerrville Folk Festival. She immediately knew that she had found her community. Six months later she left Columbia, bought a station wagon and set out to find her future in Kerrville, TX.
In 2008, Emily found herself in Austin, Texas where she finished her degree in Music Business at Texas State University in 2013, and has been working with SXSW Conference & Festivals since. While her full-time job with SXSW keeps her plenty busy, she is excited to create a boutique festival, bringing her back to her roots. LivelyLands does just that. She hopes to introduce a festival that joins her Texas and Michigan communities in the place she was raised. To nurture music with nature in beautiful Northern Michigan.
