If you’ve ever been to Austin, Texas, you know that the barbecue is amazing and the music sublime, but the breakfast tacos will steal your heart. Add some coffee and bluegrass pickin’ and you might as well be in heaven.
LivelyLands signs off on Sunday, Aug, 26, with a Bluegrass Brunch in the Empire Township Hall in downtown Empire. Mark Lavengood will lead an open jam and the Austin crew will work the kitchen. For just $20, you get breakfast tacos with fixins and all the bluegrass you can eat.
At noon, Emily and friends will set up the sandwich board on the Sunday sidewalk and open the front doors. Tourists will wander in, caught by the smell of frying breakfast and the sound of escaping banjo. LivelyLands campers will put on their cleanest dirty shirts and stumble in, needing their coffee and their last fix of music. Curious neighbors will show up to see what’s happening, run into their friends, and stay for brunch, vowing that next year they won’t miss a minute of LivelyLands.
We’re telling you, LivelyLanders, the Bluegrass Brunch will be an event! Last year, folks just kept coming and coming through the Town Hall doors. We’re cooking more food this year, but we do recommend that you buy your tickets in advance. Sunday morning’s coming down, y’all, and you want to spend it with us. A little bit of Austin in Empire.
